ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. -- A local Assemblywoman has kicked off her campaign to become the next Orange County Clerk.
Annie Rabbitt is running to replace retiring County Clerk Donna Benson. Rabbitt says her experience in different levels of government has helped her gain an understanding of what she'll need to do to succeed in the position.
In terms of priorities for the office, getting a DMV in Goshen is something she says she'll push for.
Rabbitt says making government run more efficiently for the county is her overall goal.
"Here in Orange County, when a person applies to renew their driver’s license, 12.7 percent of that fee stays in the county if you apply in person for your renewal. Why can't we do that online and why can't we make sure that money still stays home? Those are issues I'm going to work for and fight for," Rabbitt said.
Rabbitt was first elected to the Assembly in 2004 in a district spanning parts of Orange and Rockland counties.
