Teens arrested after robbing taxi at gunpoint
NEWBURGH, N.Y. -- Two Newburgh teens have been arrested after police say they were part of a trio who robbed a taxi driver in the city at gunpoint. It happened around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.
Police say the driver was on his phone when the suspects opened the door and pointed a gun at him. According to police, cash and a backpack were stolen from the taxi.
Police say once they were at the scene, they saw a person running from the area. After a short chase, a 14-year-old boy was caught. A 15-year-old was also found later.
Police say both were charged with robbery. A third person and the weapon have not yet been found.
