POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- An escape to the Galleria turned into an educational trip for some families in Poughkeepsie Sunday. Several officers from the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department volunteered their time to thank the community and showcase some of their equipment.

Organizers say it's a great way to meet and bond with residents in the community.

"It's a great event that we try to give back to the community. We do it every few years. We want to thank our residents for helping us with our jobs, without them we couldn't do the job that we're doing in the town," said Steven Leon, Town of Poughkeepsie Police Officer.

The police department offered child fingerprinting services and even held a k-9 demonstration.
